Three Arrows Capital (3AC) co-founder Zhu Su said the nearly three months he spent in a Singapore jail was a “pleasant experience” that gave him the best sleep of his life.
"Obviously, nobody wants to go to jail," the bankrupt hedge fund co-founder said in a Jan. 22 article in X, accompanied by a podcast clip of a conversation with 3AC's other co-founder, Kyle Davis. "But I think overall it was a very pleasant experience."
Zhu Su said the large amount of free time in prison allowed him to enjoy activities that were "still considered entertainment in ancient times." He said he had "a lot of time to read" and that prison lets you "do as many push-ups as you want."
He said the experience gave him "a very magical feeling" with his ancestors, telling him "this is how I'm supposed to live."
The 3AC co-founder attributes his good sleep quality to the lack of internet time, caffeine, and alcohol, which he believes helps him fall asleep instantly. He says he turns off the lights at 9:30 pm every night and stays up until 5:30 am the next morning.
CryptoX users had mixed reactions to Zhu Su's comments. Lawrence Day, founder of Wildcat Protocol, described Zhu Su as "the ultimate online person" who "had to go to an actual prison to experience the 'kinship' with his ancestors that others could get just by going offline and taking a barefoot walk on the beach to feel the cool breeze."
Zhu Su was arrested at Singapore's Changi Airport on Sept 29 last year as he tried to leave the country after a local court sentenced him to four months in prison for refusing to cooperate with an investigation into the liquidation of 3AC.
