Solana Mobile Chapter 2: Pre-sales exceeded 100,000 copies within one month

The Solana Phone 2nd Generation accumulated 100,000 pre-orders within 30 days of its release. The interest in the Solana Mobile 2nd Generation has made it surpass the first generation product, Solana Saga, which took nearly a year to sell 20,000 units. However, after the BONK token airdrop, the price of the phone soared to over $2,000 per unit on eBay, making it a phenomenon.
The latest model is available for pre-order for $450, while the original retail price of the Solana Saga was $1,000.

Those who place an order will have to wait until early 2025 for delivery of the phone. Solana Mobile raised $45 million from pre-order sales.
Smartphones with encryption-specific features
The Solana Phone already has cryptocurrency-specific features baked in. The second-generation phone will have custom features to support the buying, selling, and holding of cryptocurrencies created on the Solana blockchain.
In an interview with CoinDesk, Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko said it would be difficult to compete with Apple and Google on features including a camera, so Solana is focusing on producing a phone with Web3 features that are missing from other devices.
Yakovenko believes that as the Solana phone becomes more popular, developers may be attracted to build games for it. He added that the phone’s app market will not charge developers any fees.
