Founded in May 1963, Lamborghini is an Italian luxury sports car and SUV manufacturer headquartered in Sant'Agata Bolognese. Lamborghini is owned by the Volkswagen Group through its subsidiary Audi. The car manufacturing company is known for producing one of the most luxurious cars in the world, with its Lamborghini Veneno selling for around $8.3 million.
Lamborghini’s journey into the metaverse and NFTs
Lamborghini announced its entry into the crypto space in early 2022. At the time, the automaker partnered with Swiss artist Fabian Oefner, NFT Pro and Sotheby's to launch its first NFT series "Memory of Space and Time". The NFT series attracted huge attention.
In July 2022, Lamborghini, through its subsidiary Vincenzo Sospiri Racing, a racing team supported by Lamborghini’s racing department, signed another partnership agreement with digital NFT marketplace GO2 NFT to launch a program for certifying racing parts.
Then in August, Lamborghini furthered its plans to enter the world of non-fungible tokens. At that time, the luxury car manufacturer partnered with NFT PRO and INVNT.ATOM to launch a new NFT project called "Epic Road Trip". The NFT program aims to allow users to experience racing in the metaverse. The program ran for eight months.
Earlier this year, Automobili Lamborghini announced a new partnership with digital collectibles platform VeVe to release Lamborghini sports cars as NFTs on the platform. Through this partnership, VeVe and Lamborghini will launch a highly anticipated NFT collection this weekend.
