Binance launches Australian fire relief program, with individuals donating $1 million in BNB

-

Australia is currently experiencing its worst wildfires in history, and they are still spreading. As of January 8, the fires have burned 25 acres of land, killed people and animals, and destroyed more than 5,000 buildings. Many large humanitarian organizations are paying attention to the fires, one of which is the Binance Charity Foundation.

Binance Charity has set up an Australian wildfire donation program to mitigate the damage and impact of the disaster, which has caused economic losses of more than $4.4 billion so far.

Donated $1 million

Binance Charity itself will donate $1 million in BNB to wildfire victims and express sympathy to those victims. Of course, Binance used this opportunity to showcase the potential of blockchain and made a fairly large donation to attract attention, but not enough to really affect profits.

Lend a helping hand

Helene Hai, head of Binance Charity Foundation, addressed this issue in a public statement. They expressed their deep sympathy for those who have suffered losses in natural disasters. To this end, Hai said Binance Charity wants to help. They said that the original purpose of Binance Charity Foundation was to respond to this situation: to use technology to empower people and help those who need it most.

While Binance Charity itself has made donations, they are also relying on the Binance Australia Wildfire Donation Project. These donations have raised an impressive 120.02 Bitcoins, or about $999,540. The funds will be passed on to the victims of the wildfire areas through local organizations.

Dark days covered by smoke

Wildfires have been raging in Australia since September 2019, meaning the country has been engulfed in flames for four months. Drought and adverse weather conditions have caused large-scale wildfires to break out, especially in the New South Wales region. Many people have lost their lives, and there has been massive damage to ecosystems and civilian areas.

While some recent rain has provided some respite, the fires continue to spread and the adverse weather conditions are only making the situation worse. The country is literally being engulfed by fire.
