Cristiano Ronaldo announces fourth NFT collectible to be launched on Binance

-

Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he will be launching the fourth batch of non-fungible token (NFT) collectibles through a partnership with Binance.
“My football journey has taken me around the world, and I’ve had the honor of playing for some of the most prestigious clubs. Now it’s your turn to join me on this journey,” Ronaldo said in a comment on Binance’s May 24 blog.

Cristiano Ronaldo's new collection will include a "super super rare NFT".
The new collection will be launched on the Binance NFT marketplace on May 29 to celebrate the successful career of the sports icon. These new NFTs will also showcase Ronaldo’s memorable moments from his football journey over the years.
"Whether you're new to NFTs, a longtime fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, or you're expanding your existing CR7 NFT collection, there's utility and benefits to joining our latest Cristiano launch event," Binance said in the blog post.
Specific details about how many NFTs are included in this collection will be announced when the series goes on sale. Information related to its price has not yet been disclosed.
However, Binance’s blog post states that the digital collectibles in the new series will have the same price for each “common NFT.” Only the “super-super-rare NFTs” in the collection will have different prices.
Ronaldo’s NFT to be launched amid lawsuit against Binance
The launch of Ronaldo’s fourth NFT collection follows a class-action lawsuit filed against the soccer superstar in November 2023. The complaint alleges that the plaintiffs lost money due to unregistered securities promoted by Ronaldo that were associated with troubled crypto exchange Binance.
The plaintiffs also claim that Ronaldo should have known that Binance was selling unregistered securities given his investment experience and ability to hire advisors.
Binance has agreed to a $4.3 billion settlement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over multiple criminal charges since the lawsuit was filed in a federal district court in Florida.
The company’s former CEO, Changpeng Zhao, also left Binance. He was recently sentenced to four months in prison after pleading guilty to money laundering violations.
